Anders Nivfors NFOPad 1.61 released 2011-10-02 22:32:19
Changes 1.6 -> 1.61:
+ Chinese localization added
+ Added alpha blending support for the program window (and a setting + shortcut)
+ Added an asterisk to the program title when the text is changed and unsaved
+ Added a setting to disable all registry writes to ensure 100% portability
+ Fixed so ctrl-clicking a word to select it also works when holding down the mouse button to select several words
+ Context menu renamed "View with NFOPad" -> "Edit with NFOPad"
+ Minor layout fixes and code optimizations
+ Bugfix: switching font selection using F9-F12 now keeps the scrolled text position
+ Bugfix: tabs was handled incorrectly when printing

Big thanks to Zilung for adding Chinese localization! If you want to
translate NFOPad to a new language please contact me.

Thank you for the update.

The context menu wasn't as much renamed as it was "added"! Both options are persisting.

Please have a look into this issue.

So you have both "View with NFOPad" and "Edit with NFOPad" in your context menu? Thats odd, it will try to remove all traces of "View with NFOPad" so that should not happen. I guess you can uncheck the setting to get rid of one of them.

Hi Anders,

I can confirm the same behaviour on yet other computer of mine (this time in my office). Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Both Edit and View are present.

Even uninstalling and re-installing of both(!) versions doesn't help. On contrary, both context menu items are surviving the uninstallation!

This was really an unnecessary change, guys.

Kind regards,

If you just install NFOPad 1.61, not the portable one (which is not allowed to write to the registry by default). And open Options/Shell and UNCHECK AND CHECK "Add Edit with NFOPad to all filetypes context menus" then the old one should disappear. I'll fix this for the next version.

Hi Anders,

Yes, this worked well. Thank you!

I would appreciate, if your forum sent notifications about replies, because I just guessing, whether there would be any reply.

Thank you for your good work.

Kind regards,

Anders Re: NFOPad 1.61 released 2011-10-03 22:49:27
Yes I know, we should really fix that...

Good job, but...
IMHO for the NFO editor is necessarily to have switching the status of "Insert / Overwrite" and the ability to draw pseudographics: line, double line, the gradient. Extremely positive and have pseudographic fonts (like old good TheDRAW!). About ANSI- encoded output file with the ESC- sequences better not say anything...
Well, you have many things to do... if you want =)

Anders Re: NFOPad 1.61 released 2011-10-05 00:16:14
Hi, well it's not really a NFO editor, it's a text editor and nfo VIEWER. What about escape sequences? I'm not following what you mean.

Then take a look:

Thx for the update 1.61

I have now both the View with NFOPad and Edit with NFOPad.
I go to Options Shell and uncheck, recheck the Edit choice.
Which works to fix.
But my Question is, when I click to save, I get an error:

"Failed to set the program language. There was an error writing the registry key. This could be because your user account doesn't have the required administrator rights to write to the Windows registry."

In my case, I am the sole user and do have Administrator rights in my primary account (currently logged into).

(I do see a settings.ini file with current date/time stamp, so I guess that is where it is saving things meanwhile)

Techguy8 Re: NFOPad 1.61 released 2011-10-15 07:09:54
P.S. (since there is no "edit" in your minimal forum... ;) and I clicked too soon. )

Context menu is now OK with a single "Edit with NFOPad" entry.

Should i be concerned about the 'settings error' message?

Windows XP Pro SP3.
NFOPad 1.61
Admin User

Anders Re: NFOPad 1.61 released 2011-10-15 10:54:21
Hi, some users report that error every now and then. The reason is that changing the language of NFOPad requires admin rights to the window registry, program language can not be set from the ini file. So if you want to change the program language all I can do is advice you to look over your user account rights, and make sure nfopad.exe have admin access. You could for example turn off UAC, or check the program's security settings (at least in Windows 7 you can right click a program, click properties and select the security tab, unsure how this works in XP though)
