When reporting software issues you need to be much more specific.

Which encoding are the text files being compared?

Have you set the right encoding (UTF-8) for both files.

If you're mostly working on UTF-8 encoded files, have you set UTF-8 as the default encoding in Edit | Preferences | Text Editor ?

Have you selected a font suitable for the Chinese blocks of Unicode?

Have you adjusted the text size large enough to display CJK Unified Ideographs such that they can be easily read ?

In future, please include some Chinese text in your forum post. e.g.

Genesis 1:1:

I just compared two complete Chinese Bible text files with Diffinity.

The compare was slow due to the large filesize, but there were no display problems.

I think my earlier response should include a pointer to the cause of your difficulty.

Dear Mr Harrell

Please also undeerstand that I'm simply another Diffinity user.

I do not work for THD.

Just seeking to be helpful, given that I had access to text files that could be used for testing.

Diffinity is superb for comparing non-Roman scripts.
It's better than WinMerge for displaying them.

I've been using it today to compare Biblical Hebrew files.

It's not a fully mature product, but it already has a lot going for it. I'm quite impressed with its design and features set.

David

Feel free to email example files, and a screenshot of how it should look. /Anders

It makes no difference to Diffinity whether it's Simplified or Traditional Chinese CJK. Your objection made no technical sense.

See the screenshot comparing Simplified Chinese with another slightly different file.

I suspect you just had simply not selected UTF-8 encoding for your two files!

I work a lot with non-Roman scripts.

Diffinity is far superior to (e.g.) WinMerge in how it displays the characters.

If you saw something like in the following screenshot, then my diagnosis was correct.

Change the encoding default to either Chinese Simplified (GB2312) or UTF-8, whichever your files are encoded in.
