Orestes nfopad - bad performance opening big files 2015-09-10 18:33:15
I have a 275K C file which nfopad takes 4 seconds to open,
do you have conservative I/O for opening files or something?
do you allocate small chunks and load them until eof or
do you get file size, alloc that size and load in one Read?
I'm just curious, for example with a 8M file I see that
the program allocates (in the windows task manager)
enough memory at once to be able to load the file entirely.
can the authors take five minutes to explain this to us
the users?
then the question is why it's so slow loading up the file?
with the 8M file it takes a lot of time.

This is not a critic, im curious and I like nfopad very much
it's my preferred text editor in Windows.

I use a third party helper class for text reading from file which handles encoding and other stuff for me. It's been on my todo for a long time to replace it with my own I just haven't come around to it. I know load times are not optimal for large text files.

1.70 a file with 0.98MB = 18 seconds to open.
1.71 with the same file, 3 seconds

excelent improvement, thank you very much for your work,
greets from Cuba.
