Nikos Win 7 permissions 2010-11-27 02:14:40
I'm running Win 7 x64 Ultimate. When I click on an .nfo file, or on nfopad, itself, my screen dims and I get a dialog box asking if I want this program to make changes to Windows...
This is a bit annoying and I'm wondering if this is normal? Is there a way of just having nfopad open directly?
I'm new to Win7, so I'm not sure as to where the problem is...
Thank you...

I'm not sure why you get this, even with the highest UAC protection level NFOPad should start without a problem. Anyway, you can try to turn down your UAC protection level in Windows (typa UAC in the start menu). Also try reinstalling the program in the case it was installed by another user on the machine.

Im having the same problems.
I have to turn off the UAC completely. :/

I'm not sure why you get this, but you can probably avoid it by changing to save the settings to INI and also check "Do not allow anything to be written to the registry" (Settings/Options/Misc).

You can also try to start NFOPad as administrator. When NFOPad has run once as admin it might have succeeded in writing its reg keys and will not bother you anymore after that. (Run an NFOPad as administrator by right clicking on nfopad.exe and select "Run as administrator".)
