Six6igma nfoPad settings not saving 2010-09-22 22:11:16
I am using a clean, new install of Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. I just installed nfoPad v1.59, rebooted. When I open Windows Explorer and browse to a folder, I am unable to right-click and choose "New nfoPad file" or whatever it says. I simply do not have the nfoPad option there under "New", and I did choose that option when I installed nfoPad.

Another unusual thing is that the settings option "Add 'View with nfoPad' to all filetypes" will not remain ticked after I close options and reopen it. However, I do indeed have this right-click option when I browse files with Windows Explorer. It does work whether the option stays ticked or not, its just that the option won't stay ticked (cosmetic issue?).

Point is, I really need to have the right-click option to create a new nfoPad file in a folder. It used to work on my previous installs of Windows 7, so I know it should work. I just cant figure out why it isnt working now.

Please help.

This could be due to your windows account lacking permission to write these keys to the registry. Try logging in as an administrator and see if that helps.

I can confirm that you need to use an account with administrator rights. I'll add some checks and warnings to the next version instead of silent fail. Thanks for your feedback.
